Division 10 Estimator

Responsibilities:

  • Win projects that can be successfully completed at the highest possible profit margins
  • Initiate, develop, maintain, and improve professional standing with general contractors, owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to allow the company to obtain future work and promote growth.
  • Interpret architectural drawings and specifications, determine project requirements, and estimate the cost of engineering, materials, and labor that will be required to profitably complete the project.
  • Develop accurate take-offs and quantities of materials
  • Prepare accurate estimates of all Division 10 products as well as material, labor, and equipment costs, factoring appropriate consideration for a competitive bid
  • Gather information to provide accurate unit pricing information when required
  • Thoroughly review all contract documents including specifications, drawings, and addenda to ensure a comprehensive takeoff
  • Coordinate and review all drawings and details while identifying critical details and notes that may impact project
  • Reconcile drawing revisions back to previous set
  • Review contract documents for bonds, insurance, job schedule, time frame, warrantees, bold requirements, bid forms, etc.
  • Request all paperwork proactively so that it will be completed prior to bid
  • Hold preconstruction strategy meeting with team and arrange for site visits
  • Review documents to ensure there is a complete set and create a bid book
  • Review contract documents for project requirements and gather necessary information
  • Review insurance requirements and ensure they fall within our standard coverage
  • Determine equipment requirements and budget
  • Contact subcontractors to solicit bids, follow up and maintain contact through bidding process
  • Determine subcontractor base in project location and develop bid letter & package
  • Research local vendors and pre-qualify vendors and subcontractors
  • Set up estimate and develop an accurate cost for proposed scope of work
  • Propose areas of potential savings and develop milestones for project completion
  • Prepare detailed RFI’s as required, and comprehensive bid evaluations
  • Present pricing to owner/architect
  • Remain up-to-date on industry trends and Division 10 products

 

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Division 10 products
  • 5+ years’ experience in project estimating
  • Strong work ethic with ability to mutli-task and focus
  • Team player, collaborative
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Team learner and leader – must have growth mindset
  • Dedicated to customer service, outgoing, likeable attitude
  • Thorough understanding of Division 10
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to forge strong relationships with clients to create repeat business
